Frida Kahlo inspired autobiography

Self portrait on the borderline between here and there

“The making of my ‘silueta’ in nature keeps the transition between my homeland and my new home. It is a way of reclaiming my roots and becoming one with nature. Although the culture in which I live is part of me, my roots and cultural identity are a result of my Cuban heritage”(Mendieta).

“She (Ana Mendieta) takes all of these things to the world at large that might not be considered fine arts. She turns them into something intelligent, harrowing and emotional. “ (Catherine Morris).

“Original paintings are silent and still in a sense that information never is”(Berger).
